Changelog

Compress textures with WebP and a size limit

You can now compress textures as well as geometry. Choose WebP, JPEG or PNG, set the quality from 10 to 100 percent, and cap the resolution at 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096 pixels. WebP and PNG keep transparency, and normal maps are left alone so lighting stays correct.

The Low, Medium and High presets include texture settings. High uses WebP at 70 percent and 1024 pixels.

Compare your model before and after compression

After you compress a model, the result page shows the original and compressed models side by side, with a slider to drag between them.

Both views share one camera. Rotate or zoom one and the other follows. The file sizes count up on screen, and a badge shows how much smaller the file is.

The viewer tells you when a file fails to load

When the 3D viewer can't convert a file, it now shows an error message, so you know the file did not load. Before, it kept showing "Generating 3D preview..." with no explanation.
