AutoCAD DWG (short for drawing) is a proprietary binary file format used to store two- and three-dimensional design data, as well as metadata. It serves as the native format for various CAD software, including DraftSight, AutoCAD, ZWCAD, IntelliCAD (and its variants), Caddie, and Open Design Alliance-compliant applications. Additionally, many other CAD applications offer non-native support for DWG files. Other related DWG file types include .bak (backup), .dws (drawing standards), .dwt (drawing template), and .sv$ (temporary automatic save) files.
